A new episode of Stories on Stories, the YouTube docuseries exploring Avicii’s creative world, has been released today, offering fans an intimate look at how “Sunset Jesus” first began to take shape on the Stories album.
Produced by the Avicii estate and Pophouse Entertainment for the album’s 10th anniversary, the episode unveils rare archival footage of Tim Bergling in the studio with producer Rami Yacoub, capturing the very first melodic sketches and structural ideas behind the track. Viewers also get to see singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw recording early vocal takes that helped define the emotional tone of the song, even though the final official version later featured vocals by long-time Avicii collaborator Sandro Cavazza.
Among the early recordings appears a striking line — “My dreams are made of gold / my heart’s been broken and I’m down along the road” — revealing the mix of vulnerability and optimism that shaped the track from the start.
The docuseries launched with an episode focused on “For a Better Day” last November, and the final installment is scheduled for January 1st, 2026.
The full second episode is now streaming on YouTube.
